Ocean Protecting the diversity of life on Earth and ocean health is critical to
global human well-being; however, major resources are at risk as a result of
unsustainable practices. Sustainable development cannot be achieved by
technological solutions, political regulations or financial instruments alone.
We must change the way we think and act.
UNESCO's
Intergovernmental Commission on Oceanography (IOC-UNESCO), Member States to
produce and use information on the resources of nature, oceans and coastal
areas; The government works to promote intergovernmental cooperation for
reference in sustainable development, conservation of the marine environment
and decision-making processes. The Commission also aims to improve society's
relationship with the ocean, through the development and dissemination of
scientific knowledge, and by educating the public on how to effectively respond
to unprecedented environmental changes affecting the world's oceans and human
activities affecting the oceans.
